Introduction

Introducing “Mindfulness for Seniors: A Flexible Wisdom-Driven Approach for Revealing Joy & Meeting Life’s Challenges,” a simple, adaptable, and wisdom-driven life tool. This book offers a distinct path—a road less traveled, layered over the foundations of traditional mindfulness. We invite you to explore a more relaxed, flexible, and open approach, an approach that, while suitable for anyone, provides significant real-world benefits for seniors. Our path fully embraces, works with, and honors both the big and small life challenges that seniors face, while also embracing and reconnecting with life’s joys.

Content Overview

Inside, you’ll discover a practical, accessible, flexible, and easy-to-use Mindfulness Toolkit. We cover topics such as navigating life’s transitions, managing stress, finding joy in daily moments, and extended deep relaxation techniques that invite you into worlds of open, relaxed, and spacious awareness. You’ll find clear, jargon-free explanations and exercises, including a “micro-mindfulness moments” approach, that can be integrated seamlessly into your daily routine, helping you to rekindle an appreciation for life as well as meet and navigate physical challenges and emotional upset.

No Meditation Required

We recognize that traditional meditation can be a barrier for some. Our unique “non-meditation” approach, highlighted in the Introduction of our book “Mindfulness for Seniors”, emphasizes a relaxed “effortless being” approach to mindfulness and everyday life – no formal meditation practice is required to experience the benefits. We make mindfulness truly accessible and easy to integrate into any senior’s life, regardless of prior experience, physical limitations, background, or even for the busiest people.

Author’s Connection

As a fellow senior, I understand and appreciate the myriad changes and challenges that punctuate these later years of life, from health issues to the loss of loved ones and redefining our purpose in retirement and beyond. This book is inspired by the rich wisdom traditions of Dzogchen and Vajrayana, and tempered by my own life’s journey. I offer a friendly, encouraging, down-to-earth, and non-spiritual approach, free from the jargon, clinician-speak, and prescriptive, goal-oriented, and more rigorous techniques found in many well-known mindfulness methods and traditions.
