Mindfulness Coaching

Mindfulness:

My Approach to
Mindfulness Coaching

My approach is inclusive, compassionate, secular, science-backed, without industry jargon or clinician-speak, and is fully flexible and adaptable to your needs, challenges, and unique life situations.

I believe mindfulness for seniors is most effective when used as an on-demand technique that suits your life circumstances, when paired with a no-judgment, no-bias, and non-agenda approach when working with the mindfulness strategies I present.

Free from rigid practices or rigor, my approach to mindfulness is relaxed, accessible, and focuses both on life challenges as well as life’s joys.

All coaching sessions are conducted personally by the founder of Mindfulness for Seniors via online video calls.

Your Personal Mindfulness Guide
& Our Tailored Approach

As your personal guide and supportive friend on the mindfulness journey, I offer tailored guidance to help you navigate life’s challenges with greater ease and insight, while supporting your stated goals, always with your well-being in mind. We’ll work together using safe and supportive dialogue, free from unnecessary drama, with a solution-oriented and life-affirming approach.

No prior experience with meditation or mindfulness is required. I focus on using breath work as a foundation, then expanding to movement, body sensations, and visualizations, tailored to your unique needs. And while I most often work with active, independent seniors seeking to address specific physical, emotional, or life challenges through mindfulness, I also support individuals who are experiencing significant life challenges through illness, immobility, or injury.

Benefits and the Potential for Transformation

Through coaching, one of the primary strategies we will explore is the idea of building a “safe zone” or “buffer” between the experience that is causing upset, and any resulting reactivity and upheaval. Using metaphors such as “riding the wave of emotion” or “meeting the voice in your head,” we support your unique path while encouraging you and showing you ways to meet and navigate life’s challenges and also savor its joys, and shift your experience of a person that is defined by upset or challenge, to someone more able to react with insight and calm with deeper and expanded emotional and mental resilience.

While mindfulness can be a powerful tool for transformation, it is not a guaranteed solution, and is not appropriate for everyone and every life challenge.

Trust, Rapport,
and Confidentiality

I prioritize your privacy and adhere to strict confidentiality practices, following the ICF Code of Ethics. And while coaching is a collaborative and professional relationship, it is not legally privileged. But I do not disclose client information without consent, except when legally compelled. I maintain strict guidelines, including reporting or referring to only aggregated data for research purposes, and only recorded sessions with consent, and only anonymously share topics when used for professional development.

Direct Support
and Professional Boundaries

My approach is direct but supportive. While I appreciate and have great empathy for those with significant life challenges and will do my best to support them with insights and tailored mindfulness strategies, in our work together I will not tolerate or enable a client’s ongoing efforts at exceptionalism, drama, victimhood, or addictive behavior. I will always refer and recommend clients to other professional services when requested or deemed appropriate for the clients physical and mental health, safety, or personal growth.
