Book Description

Some challenges don’t announce themselves. They simply accumulate.

Physical discomfort that lingers. Worry that circles back. Grief that arrives without a schedule. The quiet weight of a life that keeps shifting in unexpected ways.

Mindfulness for Seniors (second edition) is a practical companion for all of it — not a program to follow or a philosophy to adopt, but a flexible toolkit you can reach for when life asks a bit more of you.

Written by Blair O’Neil — a fellow senior with more than fifty years of lived mindfulness experience — this guide offers tools that meet you where you are, in whatever moment you’re in. No meditation required. No prior experience needed. Nothing to perfect.

What you’ll find inside:

  • Simple, immediately usable tools for emotional well-being, physical discomfort, grief, and life transitions
  • Approaches that work sitting, lying down, or moving through an ordinary day
  • A “meditation not-required” framework that removes the most common barrier to getting started
  • Honest guidance on pain, loss, and the specific challenges of this stage of life
  • Extensive reference appendices for when you want to go deeper

No schedule. No ladder to climb. Just tools that work when you need them — and ask nothing of you when you don’t.

About the Author

Blair O’Neil has explored mindfulness for more than fifty years — through its formal traditions, its everyday expressions, and now through writing that aims to make it genuinely accessible to anyone. He is the founder of Easy Mindfulness for Everyone — a growing collection of books, pocket guides, and digital resources for anyone who wants mindfulness to fit their life rather than the other way around.

Blair’s introduction to mindfulness began early — as a teenager growing up in the beach culture of Santa Monica and Venice, California in the early 1970s. That world was a particular kind of education: ocean rhythms, conga drummers, artists and spiritual teachers, surfers and storytellers, creative expression existing alongside real struggle and sorrow. It was an environment that had its own quiet mindfulness woven through it, long before anyone was calling it that.

Over the decades that followed — through formal studies in various contemplative traditions, through personal challenges including significant physical injury and recovery, and through a long working life — that early orientation deepened and clarified. What emerged was less a formal practice than a lived understanding: that awareness is not something to be built or earned, but something already that is natural and can gracefully flex to meet life.

That understanding is the foundation of everything in this book — and of the broader Easy Mindfulness for Everyone ecosystem, which includes companion pocket guides on worry, anxiety, stress, grief, and other life challenges, the Easy Mindfulness for Everyone: Pain handbook, and TheMindfulPause app.

From the Founder

“Mindfulness for Seniors” was created to share the practical tools and insights I’ve gained from a life full of challenges, uncertainty, and joy.
Free from jargon and rigor, I present a relaxed, accessible, and adaptable senior-specific approach to mindfulness, which I hope is helpful for those who choose to explore it.
